Most people don't end up in NDIS support coordination by accident.
Ryan spent nearly 20 years as a registered nurse working in the kinds of places where things go wrong fast — metropolitan emergency departments, critical care units, mental health services, and some of the most remote healthcare settings in Australia, where the nearest hospital might be a plane ride away. He's also held executive healthcare leadership roles, giving him a systems-level view of how care breaks down — and more importantly, how to stop it from breaking down.
But it was the people he met in remote and isolated communities that changed everything.
He watched NDIS participants miss out on support — not because it didn't exist, but because no one would come to them. Providers focused on metro and regional areas where the caseloads were bigger and the travel was easier. And the people who needed the most help — the ones living in places most Australians will never see — were quietly left behind. Plans went unspent. Goals went unmet. Families burned out trying to fill gaps that weren't theirs to fill.
He started The Virtual Care Collective because he couldn't keep watching that happen. He built it around virtual delivery for one simple reason: a phone or video call doesn't care how far away you are. It means a participant in a remote community gets the same senior clinical oversight as someone in suburban Brisbane — and none of their funding gets wasted on a provider's travel invoice.
Every coordination decision is led by clinical thinking, not admin. Every recommendation is independent — no commissions, no referral payments, no provider kickbacks. Just a registered nurse with nearly two decades of frontline experience who believes that where you live should never determine whether you get the support you deserve.
Outside of work, he's a husband and dad — which is exactly why he understands what it means when families are fighting to keep someone they love safely at home.
